Siyam World Maldives achieves sustainability milestone with Travelife Gold Certification

Siyam World Maldives, the newest addition to the Sun Siyam Resorts portfolio, has been awarded the Travelife Gold Certification for its sustainable tourism efforts. Travelife is a non-profit flagship program that supports tourism destinations, businesses, and travellers in implementing innovative solutions for the continuous development of sustainable tourism. With this recognition, Siyam World Maldives has achieved the overall goal of Sun Siyam Resorts to have all five properties certified by Travelife.

To achieve Travelife Gold Certification, a resort must meet 163 sustainability criteria, including minimizing waste and energy use, addressing social issues, supporting employee welfare and wildlife protection, and supporting the local community and local businesses. Siyam World Maldives has demonstrated its commitment to these standards by implementing various initiatives under its Sun Siyam Cares programme, such as reducing energy and water use, managing waste to reduce plastic use, supporting community development, and investing in renewable energy.

Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, the founder and chairman of Sun Siyam Resorts, said that he was proud of the achievement and thanked the team for their hard work and dedication. “We are delighted to receive the Travelife Gold Certification for Siyam World Maldives, which marks the completion of our goal to have all five properties certified by Travelife. This is a testament to our vision of operating sustainably and responsibly in the Maldives and Sri Lanka while offering authentic guest experiences. I would like to thank our team for their efforts and our guests for their support in this journey,” he said.
