The United States remains a dream destination for many Filipinos. Whether you’re planning a holiday, attending a conference, or visiting relatives and friends, obtaining a B1/B2 visa is essential. In this article, I’ll share my experience and provide tips to strengthen your visa application and navigate the interview process at the embassy.
The B1/B2 visa covers temporary stays for business (B-1), tourism (B-2), or both (B-1/B-2). Here are some activities it encompasses:
- Holiday: Explore the US for leisure.
- Contract negotiations: Attend business meetings or conferences.
- Visit relatives and/or friends: Spend time with loved ones.
- Treatment for an illness: Seek medical care.
- Consult business associates: Engage in professional discussions.
- Participate in social events hosted by an organization: Attend conferences, workshops, or seminars.
- Settle an estate: Handle legal matters related to property or inheritance.
- Participate in amateur contests or events: Engage in non-professional competitions.
Application Process
- Forms: Fill out the DS-160 form online, providing accurate information about yourself, travel history, and social media profiles.
- Payment: Pay the visa fee (approximately US$185) and generate a unique receipt number.
- Interview Schedule: Book an appointment for your interview. Bring the confirmation letter, passport, 2×2 photo, deposit slip, and certificate of employment.
