Sons of Behemat Add a Witch and a Middle Rank

Sons of Behemat pre-orders open September 12, adding a witch and a middle-rank Spearhead before Games Workshop’s September 21 price change.

Games Workshop puts a new Sons of Behemat witch, a three-Gargant Spearhead, and two limited Mega-Gargant boxes up for pre-order on September 12. The Sunday Preview on September 6 framed it as another stomp. The kits on the list do something the faction has not done since it launched: they sell a tribe, not four identical giants.

Ma Maegran is a seer. Boss-stompers sit in a height class the range never stocked. The Stomper Tribe box and Brawlers of Behemat are mostly the 2020 Mega-Gargant kit, packed again, with a clock running on both stock and price.

Ma Maegran Brings Magic the Faction Never Had

Games Workshop revealed the Chooser of the Mighty and her Ghyrochs on August 17. Mega-Gargants defer to her as a seer and a witch, a tone the studio has not given any other Gargant kit. King Brodd, the priest-king of the Scabrous Sprawl, already chants. Maegran is the first model sold as a caster who changes size itself.

It is said that she can bestow the blessing of almighty bigness upon one who might please her, but that she can also strip it away from those who earn her ire.

Games Workshop, Warhammer Community, 17 August 2026

Two Ancient Ghyrochs come with her, shaggy Ghyran beasts that gore anything closing on their shepherd. The studio also says she can walk up on an enemy line without the usual roaring, which is a polite way of saying the army finally has a piece that does not announce itself from 20 inches away. Rules land in the new battletome. The Sunday Preview only promises that her magic is an invaluable tool and that the Ghyrochs strike before prey reaches her.

For a force that has lived on smash profiles and a single priest, a witch who can swell an ally or shrink a rival is a different job. Brodd remains the named king. Maegran is the named reason to buy a support piece that is not another 130 millimetre base.

Boss-stompers Fill the Gap the Range Left Open

The other new plastic is a three-model kit. Boss-stompers are sold as a trio with clubs, which the studio footnotes as uprooted trees with heavy junk jammed in the trunk. The same box builds Rock-hurlers, and those three Rock-hurlers are the new Sons of Behemat Spearhead. That is the cheap door into the army, replacing the older Wallsmasher Stomp of Mancrushers clustered under a Mega-Gargant.

They are a bit bigger than a Mancrusher and not as large as a Mega-Gargant. Their taller kin still call them little. That sentence is the whole product strategy. Since October 2020 the range has been two kits: the old Fantasy giant rebodied as a Mancrusher, and one Mega-Gargant frame that builds a Warstomper, a Gatebreaker, or a Kraken-eater, later stretched to King Brodd and the Beast-smasher. There was no rank in between.

WHAT THE MIDDLE RANK CHANGES

  • A true unit: Boss-stompers are fielded as a trio, not as a lone monster with a hero keyword.
  • A shooting build: Rock-hurlers exist to throw masonry, which is the first dedicated ranged Gargant kit.
  • A Spearhead: three Rock-hurlers are now the starter army, so new players do not have to buy a Mega-Gargant on day one.
  • A leader hunt: the studio says Boss-stompers go after enemy bosses, a flicker of Behemati cunning their kin are not known for.

Matched-play lists have spent years parking four Mega-Gargants on objectives and daring the other player to chew through 35 wounds a model. A middle rank with a Spearhead warscroll is how the company gets people to put more than four models on the table without pretending Mancrusher spam already worked.

The Stomper Tribe Box Bets on Smaller Gargants

The Stomper Tribe boxed set is one Warstomper Mega-Gargant and three Mancrusher Gargants, sold against new Army of Renown rules. Games Workshop says the idea is a horde of smaller Gargants trailing a Warstomper, picking up boons and a little of his attention by hanging around his bigness. The Warstomper can be built as a Gatebreaker or a Kraken-eater. The Mancrushers come with the usual cosmetic bits. The box is only available while stocks last.

That is not new sculpt work. It is the 2020 Mega-Gargant kit plus three of the Mancrusher kit, which the US shop still sells on their own. The Warstomper Mega-Gargant lists at $215, and the Mancrusher Gargant kit at $77, so the same four models bought apart come to $446 before tax. The UK shop has the mega at £135 and the Mancrusher at £47. The box will have to undercut that spread, or it is just a gift wrap on kits many collectors already own.

Stomper Tribe is also an old rules name. In the first book it was the Warstomper’s tribe, written to make Mancrusher groups work, and it was the tribe people quietly skipped because the small giants never earned their points. The company is now selling the physical box and an Army of Renown on the same bet. If the new boons are real, the box is a start. If they are not, it is a remaindered mega and three boys in a limited sleeve.

Two Mega-Gargants Come With a 15-Minute Game

Brawlers of Behemat is the other limited box, and it is the one that will hurt wallets. You get two complete Mega-Gargants, each buildable as a Warstomper, Gatebreaker, or Kraken-eater, plus ruined Embergard terrain and a separate game in which the two of them try to smash an opponent’s limbs until the other cannot stand. Games Workshop says a game can take as little as 15 minutes, played on damage dashboards, and that a wrong step on the new walls dumps a giant for the other player to finish.

Two Warstomper kits at the current shop price are $430 of plastic before the ruins and the rules leaflet. That is why the box is already being treated as one of the dearest plastic packs in the range, even though Saturday’s sticker is not public. The studio is open about the other use. It is a way to pick up a pair of Mega-Gargants for a Sons of Behemat army. The Embergard ruins match terrain from the City of Ash Spearhead pack, so the scenery has a second life on normal boards. The set is while stocks last, same as the Stomper Tribe box.

Independent shops started interest lists on September 6 with prices still to follow. A Warhammer store in Tokyo posted the full lineup on September 7. Nobody serious is arguing about the 15-minute game. They are arguing about paying for two of the largest kits Games Workshop makes, then finding shelf space for a second 130 millimetre base.

Saturday Pre-Orders Land Before a September Price Rise

Sunday Previews feed the next Saturday’s webstore drop, so the date that matters is September 12. The new kits have no public RRP yet. The rest of the range does, and a trade notice already sits on the calendar behind them.

Games Workshop told trade accounts there is a price change from 21 September, and that orders can still be processed at current prices until the end of Thursday, 17 September. This Saturday’s pre-order is the last full webstore wave inside that window. Trade lists circulating among shops put King Brodd, today $215 on the Warhammer site, at $227.50 after the change. That is $12.50 more on the named mega, and it is the concrete Gargant line in those lists.

The same Sunday Preview also carries three Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Battlehosts, Rohan with King Théoden, Mirkwood with Legolas, and Dol Guldur with Bolg, plus free downloadable rules so any two Battlehosts can play without further books. They are a separate game’s on-ramp, sharing a Saturday with the giants. They are not the Sons of Behemat story. They are extra demand on the same checkout.

The Army That Lived on Four Models

Sons of Behemat arrived as Age of Sigmar’s giant faction on October 10, 2020, with an 80-page battletome and a Mega-Gargant kit that then cost $195. The book was $40. A 700-copy limited edition was $80. You built a Kraken-eater, a Gatebreaker, or a Warstomper from one frame, added Mancrushers if you had to, and called it an army. A 2,000-point list was often four models.

The 2022 book added King Brodd and the Beast-smasher and did not change the shopping list. Brodd is still 520 points with 40 health in current profiles. Tournament builds in the 2026-27 General’s Handbook still open with Brodd, then hang Mega-Gargants and a few Mancrushers off him. Scourge of Aqshy, the 2026 summer pack, already tried to help the small ones with extra Gatebreaker and Mancrusher warscrolls, a prayer lore called Brodd’s Bellows, and Cracked Heels enhancements. The new battletome has to finish that job, or Maegran and the Boss-stompers will be display pieces beside the same four-model club.

FROM FOUR MODELS TO A TRIBE

  1. October 10, 2020: Debut battletome and Mega-Gargant kit go up for pre-order, 80 pages, mega at $195.
  2. 2022: A third-edition battletome adds King Brodd and the Beast-smasher, still built from the mega frame.
  3. June 2024: The Age of Sigmar 4 faction focus still describes Taker, Breaker, Stomper, and Boss tribes around Mega-Gargants.
  4. July 2026: Scourge of Aqshy publishes extra Gatebreaker and Mancrusher warscrolls and Brodd’s Bellows.
  5. August 17, 2026: Ma Maegran and Boss-stompers are revealed as new plastic.
  6. August 24, 2026: Brawlers of Behemat is revealed as a two-mega boxed game.
  7. September 6, 2026: Sunday Preview sets the Saturday, September 12 pre-order.

The UK Warhammer shop still lists eight Sons of Behemat products, and five of those eight are the same Mega-Gargant body under different names. That is the complaint people keep making when they say the faction looks rad and then never start it. A witch and a three-model kit are the first new silhouettes in the range. The limited boxes are how the old silhouette gets moved one more time.

Ghur Gets a New Battletome and Footprint Dice

The new Destruction battletome is the rules reason to care. Games Workshop says it covers Gargant tribes and their work in Ghur, with new battle traits, the Rock-hurler Spearhead, and Path to Glory content for colossal champions. The hardback is the regular edition. The Gamer’s Edition is a smaller book with a set of 33 warscroll cards, while stocks last. A separate warscroll card pack and a 16-dice set sit beside it. The dice are bloodstained bone plastic with dark red pips and a man-crushing foot on the six.

CURRENT WARHAMMER SHOP PRICES

  • Mega-Gargant: $215 in the US, £135 in the UK, one kit, five names.
  • Mancrusher: $77 in the US, £47 in the UK, the only small giant on the shelf until Boss-stompers arrive.
  • King Brodd: same $215 US / £135 UK slot, temporarily out of stock on the UK page.
  • Faction Pack: £10.50 in the UK, the thin rules stand-in the new book replaces.

Warhammer Community said it will start digging through the battletome this week. Until those pages are public, the only load-bearing facts are the ones on the pre-order list: a witch, a middle rank that is also a Spearhead, a limited tribe box of one mega and three boys, a limited two-mega brawl, and a book with a 33-card Gamer’s Edition. Pre-order is September 12. Current trade prices hold through 17 September. The wider 21 September rise follows. The limited boxes will not be there for a second look.
