The short version, and who this binds

These terms are the agreement between you and AN TV NEWS for your use of this website. By reading, sharing, commenting or subscribing here, you accept them. If you do not accept them, the remedy is simple: do not use the site. We have written them to be read, not to be survived, and where a clause carries real weight we have tried to say why it is there.

You need to be old enough to form a contract where you live to agree to these terms, and old enough under our privacy rules to open a comment account or a newsletter subscription. Nothing here removes a right you hold as a consumer under the law that applies to you. Where a mandatory local rule and a clause below disagree, the local rule wins and the rest of these terms stand.

What you may do with what we publish

You are welcome to read our journalism, link to it, and quote a fair and reasonable extract with attribution and a link back. That is how news is meant to travel, and we have no interest in stopping it. What you may not do is republish whole articles, scrape the site at scale, or pass our reporting off as your own or as someone else’s.

Everything we publish, the words, the layout, the images we own or license and the AN TV NEWS name, is protected by copyright and trademark. A link that credits us is encouraged. A copy that competes with us is not. If you want to reproduce more than a short extract, write to support@antv.news and ask. If you believe your own work has been used here without permission, our DMCA and copyright policy tells you exactly what to do.

Comments and anything you post

If we open comments on a story, you own what you write, but by posting it you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, store, moderate and remove it in connection with the site. You promise that what you post is yours to post, that it is not defamatory, and that it does not break the law or someone else’s rights.

We moderate. We will remove abuse, spam, personal attacks, threats, private information posted without consent, and comment left only to sell something. We can close a thread or a discussion whenever a story stops being usefully served by it. Moderation is a matter of editorial judgement, and it will never be perfect, but the direction is fixed: this is a place to argue with an article, not with each other.

Fair use of the site

Use the site the way it is meant to be used. Do not try to break, overload or probe it. Do not scrape it with automated tools, resell access to it, strip our advertising, upload anything malicious, or impersonate us or anyone else. Do not use the site to do anything unlawful where you are or where we are.

We may suspend or block access that threatens the site or other readers, and we may report serious misuse to the relevant authorities. None of this is aimed at ordinary readers, who will never notice these terms exist. It is aimed at the small number of actors who treat a free news site as something to exploit.

Links out, and things we do not control

Our stories link to other sites: source documents, official statements, other coverage. Those sites are not ours, we do not control them, and a link is not an endorsement of everything on the far end. When you leave AN TV NEWS you are subject to the terms and privacy practices of wherever you land, and those are between you and them.

The same goes for third-party content that appears inside our pages, such as an embedded video, a social post or an advertisement. We choose our partners with care, but we cannot vouch for material we did not create. If something embedded here is broken, offensive or wrong, tell us and we will look at it.

No warranty, and the limit on liability

We work hard to be accurate and to keep the site available, but we provide it “as is”. News is provisional by nature, a developing story can change under you, and we do not warrant that every item is complete, current or error-free, nor that the site will always be up. Nothing here is professional advice, a point our disclaimer makes at length and you should read.

To the fullest extent the law allows, AN TV NEWS is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any decision you take in reliance on something you read here. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the minimum the law permits. This clause does not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes, ending, and the law that applies

We may update these terms as the site and the law change. When we do, the date below moves, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version. If a change is significant, we will flag it rather than bury it. We may also change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site without notice, because a free publication cannot promise permanence.

These terms are governed by the laws applicable where the operator is established, and any dispute that cannot be resolved by writing to us first is subject to the courts of that place, without affecting any mandatory consumer right you have at home.
